OCT 22, 2012 - Pearl Jam's Mike McCready has made a video with filmmaker Jesse Dylan to ask voters to make a pledge on SignOn.org to support the issue of people with pre-existing medical conditions having access to affordable healthcare. On the Pearl Jam website they say:
"The truth is, everyone is better off when everyone is healthy. Especially those of us who have been dealt a rough hand – people with conditions or diseases like cancer, diabetes, Crohn’s, Alzheimer’s, HIV, asthma or arthritis.
The insurance networks that control our doctor’s offices, hospitals and emergency rooms have a more difficult time-sharing our pro-health perspective. Not because they’re bad people, but because their focus is on profitability, and they haven’t found a way to be as profitable off of the sick as they are off the healthy. Which is not to say they aren’t profitable.
We are a musician and a filmmaker, who are also fathers and businessmen, who are living with chronic illnesses. We know firsthand of what we speak. We were also friends with the late Jennifer Jaff who, through her organization Advocacy for Patients, fought tirelessly with insurance companies on behalf of chronically ill patients who had been denied payments or coverage. Our friend Jennifer imagined a day when her services would no longer be needed, when health care for all Americans would be seen as both good business and good values. If you share this vision and these values, watch and share this little video we created as a tribute to Jennifer, and help elect a President this November who shares these values as well.
Sincerely,
Jesse Dylan, Founder of Wondros, Filmmaker, inspired by his son’s illness to found Lybba, at lybba.org, creating compassionate communities of care to redesign healthcare for good, Mike McCready, Pearl Jam, Guitarist, living with Crohn’s disease"

OCT 15, 2012 - One of the longest running bands ever, The Rolling Stones, just released a studio track that dabbles into "politics" in a way, and actually sounds pretty good. Keith Richards has come out with another great riff, and the whole band seems energized and the tune really rocks. The song is called "Gloom and Doom" and I came away after listening to it that they are alluding to conservatives in Europe and America that are crying "gloom and doom" unless we eviscerate entitlements. Mick has still got it, and sings about the economic hardships everybody is facing, and seems to break it down to a common way of looking at it and singing about getting a headache over it all.
In a pretty cool "lyric" video for "Gloom and Doom" they just released (watch below) they fight back at the conservative's claim that "entitlements are making us broke", by pointing out that unfunded billions have been spent on unnecessary wars singing, "Lost all that treasure in an overseas war, it just goes to show you don't get what you paid for." Then Mick and the boys take a swipe at the 1% singing, "Battle to the rich and you worry about the poor." In the third verse they even sing out against FRACKING saying, "Fracking deep for, but there's nothing in the sump!" Check out the new video below.
SEP 24, 2012 - Tomorrow, September 25, 2012, will be National Voter Registration Day. JTMP urges everyone to register to vote, and Get Out and Vote! Even if you think you are registered, it is a good idea to verify and update your voting registration information, and to check out and new voter ID state laws that may require you to bring a photo ID or some form of identification. JTMP is totally against these voter suppression efforts, but for now let's make sure your vote is heard. Meanwhile, we urge you to contact your elected officials and tell them to stop these voter suppression efforts such as voter ID laws.
Usher has gotten together with Our Time and made a PSA video urging his fans and others to take part in the political process. In the video he says, "When you really understand the effective change that happens as a result of coming together, pooling an effort, that is when you begin to see the difference. This is when your voice really matters. This is the time that you should engage. This is the time when you can make a difference." Register to VOTE on Our Time's website by clicking here. Host an event and register voters in your area! To find out how, check out the National Voter Registration Day website HERE, and watch the Usher video below.
AUG 6, 2012 - Rapper Nicki Manaj, who raised eyebrows rapping an endorsement for Mitt Romney in the Lil' Wayne song "Mercy", has been exposed as not even being registered to vote; so she can't vote for either candidate. In the days after the "endorsement" being discovered, people bombarded her and after a quick Google search and research HipHopWired uncovered the fact she has never bothered to register to vote EVER in the 3 states she has lived in.
The "Mercy" remix has these lines in it:
"I got more money , in in my f*cking purse /Court side, you in the C Section, I'm with them bloods you you with the C Section /In Malibu I'm bout a sea section /And all these b*tches is my sons, yeah C-Section /I'm a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy b*tches is f*cking up the economy /Out in Miami I be chilling with a zombie /Diablo Alejandro de Mello Gandhi""
But many people in the entertainment field are scratching their head, because she supports Obamacare and called for free medical care for all on NecoleBitchie.com back in July. The Mitt Romney campaign is uneasy about the "endorsement", but being that the song lyrics don't make much sense, no one knows what is really going on in her motivation to rap that line. JTMP urges anyone who hasn't registered to vote to do it now; and make sure you check your state Voter ID (voter suppression) laws and assure you have all correct and necessary ID and documentation with you when you go to vote. Also, make sure your address and other information for your voter registration is up-to-date and correct. Sites that can help you:

MAY 15, 2012 - In an interview with CNN, Jay-Z has come out and praised Obama for coming out in support of gay marriage saying, "it was the right thing to do." He added, "I've always thought it as something that was still holding the country back. What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That's their business. It's no different than discriminating against blacks. It's discrimination pure and simple." Watch the interview below.
