Occuprint is a new website that puts on display artwork inspired by the Occupy Movement, showing the various common threads running through the new movement. A few of the commonalities are anger at the greed of Wall Street and banks, and frustration of the disproportionate access to our elected officials and economic opportunities between the 1% and the 99%. The Citizens United ruling, which gave corporations the same rights as people, is also present on many of the posters, urging citizens (real people) to wake up, get motivated, and get out to fight for their rights.
Sintex Era sent us his latest music video titled, "Trickle Down", which he says is "my take on the 1%." He wrote it back in May over his frustration with his job and was "pleasantly surprised that people of all walks of life are also vociferously speaking out against the injustices that the MAJORITY of Americans go through", referring to the Occupy Movement sweeping America and the world. Check out the explicit version below.
DEC 2, 2011 - JTMP posted earlier about "Occupy This Album", and one of the activist musicians that is taking part in it is Jackson Browne, and he was on Countdown with Keith Olbermann on December 1st and discussed the project with Keith. The video is below.
DEC 1, 2011 - A website has been created for activist musicians can show their support for the Occupy Movement, and to also be a gathering place for them to coordinate and organize themselves for Occupy related events and is a place where Occupy related sounds and music are posted. Check out the website for links to great songs and sounds from Occupy activist musicians and artists. JTMP plans to collaborate and work with Occupy Musicians so check back to both sites regularly.
On the website it says, "We, the undersigned musicians and all who will join us, support Occupy Wall Street and the Occupy Movement around the world.", and is already a huge list of musicians. They use the term "musician" broadly, and encourage musicians, sound engineers, sound artists, producers, DJs, producers, instrumentalists, composers, lyricists, etc. to all send them an email with your name, instruments, musical affiliations, and location to Occupy Musicians at Gmail.com.
