JAN 21, 2013 - Yesterday, the day before the Presidential Inauguration, Sasha and Malia Obama rocked out with kids from military families, Katy Perry and Usher. DEC 2, 2012 - The greatest guitar player alive and currently playing (IMHO) Buddy Guy, along with Led Zeppelin, were honored by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts this week and President Barack Obama was there citing the importance of arts in society saying, "[they] inspired us to see things in a new way, to hear things differently, to discover something within us or to appreciate how much beauty there is in the world. It's that unique power that makes the arts so important." JTMP supports keeping funding for the arts in this time of talks of "austerity", and ask our supporters to contact your elected representatives and tell them to defend funding for the arts. NOV 4, 2012 - Several musicians are helping out the Presidential nominees, from Kid Rock in everywhere for Romney, to Stevie Wonder in Ohio, Dave Matthews everywhere, and Pit Bull in Florida for Obama. Musicians tend to draw a few more people out, provide music to the crowd and help energize the base. Katy Perry has been using her concerts to rally support for Obama, even wearing skin tight ballots and "Forward" signs.
OCT 29, 2012 - JTMP agrees with both Presidential campaigns toning down the politics while Storm Sandy threatens life on the east coast. However, this is also a time to remember how crucial and necessary federal governmental agencies are in times of crisis, and some candidates have been running around saying they would "scrap FEMA", and propose budgets that would cut funding to FEMA and other important and necessary governmental organizations we as Americans relay on. So, let's tone down the campaign, yes....and thank FEMA for being there and being funded by taxes. JTMP calls for more funding for FEMA, and less to civilian defense contractors.
If you need help or you want more information on Storm Sandy from the great and awesome, governmental organization called FEMA, check out their webpage here, and remember issues like FEMA when you go to the voting booth next month.
