AUG 17, 2012 - In an apparent "whoosh over their head" moment, Paul Ryan has been listening to Rage Against the Machine for years, and has recently said they were among his favorite bands, and did not know the whole time it was the policies he promotes and votes for that the whole Rage Against the Machine rages against! Tom Morello straightened him out in a blistering Op Ed in Rolling Stone magazine saying, "Paul Ryan is clueless about his favorite band, Rage Against the Machine." He added, "[Paul Ryan's] vision of shifting revenue more radically to the one percent is antithetical to the message of Rage".
Tom Morello also said, "I clearly see that Ryan has a whole lotta "rage" in him: A rage against women, rage against immigrants, a rage against workers, a rage against gays, a rage against the poor, a age against the environment." MAY 2, 2012 - Jackson Brown, Tom Morello and Tim McIlrath rocked the Get Out The Vote efforts along with the AFL-CIO and thousands and thousands of citizens consisting of nurses, teachers, etc. in Wisconsin, ahead of the Wisconsin's recall election on Tuesday June 5, 2012. A huge crowd showed up, all stirred up by the attacks by the Governor on teachers, firemen, cops and other workers by attacking collective bargaining rights by public union employees. Republicans have been hard at work attacking unions, and this is the dragon they awoke. Watch a clip of all 3 playing the song, "People Have the Power" from Rock of the Arts on YouTube.
MAY, 19, 2012 - To counter the recent Republican state laws putting up hurdles to voting rights, the DNC has launched a website called "GottaVote" where they take the young person step-by-step through the registration process, what to bring with you when you go to the polls, and you can set your account up to send you an email and text reminders to Get Out The Vote, and of course where to vote on voting day. If your state has early voting, you can find out here and where to go. The site is tailored so when you visit, it will automatically know which state you live in by zip code, and have the appropriate state laws ready to print out and bring with you to the polls as a "checklist". They also have links to your state's website with candidate information, and that can help you to make an informed vote.
MAY 15, 2012 - In an interview with CNN, Jay-Z has come out and praised Obama for coming out in support of gay marriage saying, "it was the right thing to do." He added, "I've always thought it as something that was still holding the country back. What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That's their business. It's no different than discriminating against blacks. It's discrimination pure and simple." Watch the interview below.
MAY 7, 2012 - Ted Nugent, who recently went on a rant at a NRA convention using violent and extreme rhetoric, has once again went off, this time at CBS reporter Jeff Glor saying, "I'm an extremely loving and passionate man, and people who investigate me honestly, without the baggage of political correctness, ascertain the conclusion that I'm a damned nice guy ... and if you can find a screening process more powerful than that, I'll s*ck your d**k." Then he turned to the female producer and said, "Or I'll fuck you, how's that sound?" Watch the video below.
