Tom Morello, probably the top music activist today, has announced he will perform at Occupy Wall Street today (October 12) at noon. He will perform as "The Nightwatchman" and he told Rolling Stone, "The Nightwatchman will Occupy Wall Street tomorrow at noon, adding one more voice to the growing chorus of millions demanding economic justice at home and around the globe. And I'll be playing some songs. Likely in the rain."
Tom has been an outspoken advocate against corporate greed and the attack on working Americans and has played recently at Occupy LA. JTMP will post any videos as soon as they are posted.
Hip Hop artist Talib Kweli appeared at Occupy Wall Street in a show of solidarity with real grassroots democracy, and performed a new rhyme called, "Distraction". In an interview he said, "I'm not aligned with everyone politically who is there," he said. "But I was overwhelmed by seeing democracy in action. You have to see how dedicated these people are to creating social awareness and creating a platform for us to talk about issues ... disparities in our country."
Michael Franti, one of the top musical activists today, showed up at Occupy Wall Street and played music for the protesters in a support of solidarity and to energize and embolden the crowd. He wandered through the encampment, played with the drummers, and helped kick off the general assembly. Watch a video below:
