AUG 27, 2013 - Activist, actor, Tech Grad and now the New York City Council. Jumaane Williams, whose art is acting and appeared in several Hip Hop music videos, has always been involved in his community and his activism. From addressing the problem of affordable housing in New York City, to the un-Constitutional and racist "Stop and Frisk" policy that overwhelmingly targets inner-city blacks and Hispanics; he has been out there on the front lines fighting the good fight. Mr. Williams is a Native Brooklyn, and early on appeared in Hip Hop music videos for EPMD and Solo; and in 2009 he got elected to the New York City Council as a Democrat that represents Flatbush, East Flatbush, Flatlands and parts of Midwood and Canarsie. Mr. Williams helped shepherde two bills that reined in the "Stop and Frisk" policy. Is Miley Cyrus Overcompensating to Distance Herself from Hannah Montana?

AUG 26, 2013 - Miley Cyrus has made waves following her very sexually suggestive "dance" with Robin Thicke on the VMA awards show last night, where she bent over and Thicke proceeded to "dance with her". Many celebrities thought it was inappropriate given that many young kids were watching, and this is not healthy for them to watch. Bill Maher Tweeted, "Watching VMAs. Haven't been to a strip club in a while, good to see nothing has changed." Many believe the radical haircut she got months back and this very lewd performance is her overcompensating in an attempt to distance herself from the wholesome look of Hannah Montana, and how she now wants to be a totally different artist centered around dance club music. Read more on this at NYDailyNews.com. What do you think of her and Thicke's performance? Leave a comment on our Justice Through Music Facebook page.

AUG 22, 2012 - Responding to the hateful Westboro Baptist Church rally at her Lincoln, Nebraska concert back on August 18, 2013, popular artist Ke$ha sent her dancers to perform fabulous dance moves and love to counter the hate from WBC. Unfortunately, WBC had their awful parody of Ke$ha's song, "We R Who We R" in the background where they changed the lyrics. Listen to the real Ke$ha song here. Sienna Stylish on YouTube posted this video of the event below. What do you think? August 13, 2013 - Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joined the condemnation of the harsh and Draconian voter suppression bill that North Carolina Republican state lawmakers and Republican Governor Pat McCrory passed and signed yesterday, saying it "reads like the greatest hits of voter suppression". She also weighed in on the recent gutting of the federal voting rights act and the effort by Republican state lawmakers across the country enacting laws making it harder for people to vote. Speaking in San Francisco yesterday she said, "In the weeks since the ruling, we've seen an unseemly rush by previously covered jurisdictions to enact or enforce laws that will make it harder for millions of our fellow Americans to vote."

JTMP urges our supporters to contact your state lawmakers and governor, and tell them you do not support voter suppression efforts, and demand they start making it EASIER for Americans to vote, NOT HARDER. The USA.gov website has a great place for you to find out how you can contact your state lawmakers and governor, check it out HERE. Watch the C-Span video of her speech yesterday at the American Bar Association conference below.  (Photo credit: US Department of State)
