Documentary: “Positive Force: More Than a Witness” Explores 25 Years of Activist Music
JTMP helped out with this great project called, "Positive Force: More Than a Witness", a film by Robin Bell that explores and documents the life and times of the punk rock activist collective known as "Positive Force". Using archival footage and in-depth interviews, Robin takes us through the history of the DC punk rock activist movement and documents "Positive Force's Reagan-era origins, the creation of its communal house, FBI harassment, and the rise of a vibrant underground that burst into the mainstream amidst controversy over both the means and the ends of the movement."
But the filmmakers need our help in funding the project. To check out and help support this awesome project please go to the KickStarter website and help out with a donation. The filmmakers will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the DVD to benefit the We Are Family senior outreach network.

Makana: Hawaiian Troubadour Secretly Serenades Obama and APEC With Occupy Support Songs
Makana, a well known musical activist was hired to play at a dinner for President Barack Obama and other APEC leaders who are meeting in Hawaii, and he surreptitiously serenaded them with occupy protest support songs. Makana had played the White House back in 2007, but instead of playing the regular background music, he opened his jacket to reveal a shirt that said, "Occupy With Aloha" and he played his song, "We Are the Many” for a continuous 45 minutes; which has lines such as “The lobbyists at Washington do gnaw.... And until they are purged, we won't withdraw,” and ends with the refrain: “We'll occupy the streets, we'll occupy the courts, we'll occupy the offices of you, till you do the bidding of the many, not the few." The Yes Men were there and filmed it all. They have a great post up about it here, and their video is below, along with Makana's video of "We Are The Many".
