APR 11, 2013 - Kid Rock started getting involved in politics with Jon Stewart's "Restore Sanity" tour, and most recently stumped for the Republican Presidential nominee in 2012, Mitt Romney. He also did a PSA with Sean Penn in a "bipartisan" PSA. In a new Rolling Stone interview Kid Rock waded into politics again and commented on many of the recent state laws being passed by Republican state legislatures restricting rights and says, "That's one of the times I'm fucking embarrassed to be a Republican. It's fucking Republican lawmakers, you dumbasses." In response to the criticism he supported Mitt Romney he said, "People in this country just hate each other for voicing an opinion, especially in my business I'm like the fucking lone wolf. Look, I tend to vote Republican, but I don't like the hardcore views on either side and I'm not in bed with anybody. APR 11, 2013 - In an AP interview by Chris Brummitt, Joan Baez speaks of activism, the Vietnam War, and of course the music. She went back to Hanoi, for the first time in over 40 years, when she went on a peace mission in 1972 to try and end the Vietnam War. She spoke of how she had to scurry to the bomb shelter in the government-run hotel, and it made her deal with her "own mortality". Joan Baez does a lot of activism at rallies, and usually shuns political events, but she did make an exception for Barack Obama in 2008; and commenting on the President she said, "In some ways I'm disappointed, but in some ways it was silly to expect more. If he had taken his brilliance, his eloquence, his toughness and not run for office he could have led a movement. APR 2013 - A grandma from Oklahoma, Nancy Zorn, chained herself to some Keystone XL Pipeline machinery, in a civil disobedience move to try and stop the expansion of the Keystone XL Pipeline currently going on.

APR 9, 2013 - Russian musical-activist Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, from Pussy Riot, gave an interview to the Guardian UK and vowed to continue her activism and fight on. She is finishing her two-year sentence for "hooliganism" after performing a "can-Can" dance and anti-Putin song in the Russian Orthodox Church. Speaking in a phone interview from a Mordovia prison camp Nadezhda said, "the government wants us to recognise our guilt, which of course we won't do. I submitted the parole documents to show that they cannot break a person."  (photo credit: CC/Igor Muhkin)

APR 4, 2013 - Yoko Ono is putting together a great lineup for this summer's Meltdown Festival in London. The Meltdown Festival is a collection of great artists who come together to celebrate life, art, music and activism. Yoko has asked Patti Smith, Boy George, Iggy and the Stooges, Siouxsie and Immortal Technique so far. Many more artists are sure to get on board as the date approaches.
