Ted Nugent to Piers Morgan Would you just leave us the hell alone
FEB 5, 2013 - Teabagger and gun nut mouthpiece (and has-been musician) Ted Nugent told Piers Morgan in an interview that he wants Obama and the government to "just leave us the hell alone". Apparently, we have to solve our gun safety problem with out inconveniencing gun owners in any way shape or form. I don't know if we could do that Ted. Funky Claude from Smoke on the Water dies
FEB 3, 2013 - The man who helped inspire the Deep Purple classic "Smoke on the Water" and was enshrined in one of the verses, Claude Nobs, or "Funky Claude" who was "running in and out, pulling kids out the ground", has died. The song sings about Funky Claude saving many concert goers after "some stupid with a flare gun" fired it into the ceiling of a casino during a Frank Zappa concert in 1971. The song went on to become a Rock and Roll Classic, and for many a budding guitarist (including myself) this was the first ever riff I ever played on the guitar.

John Prine Some Humans Aint Human
JAN 29, 2013 - One of my favorite activist musicians, John Prine, did the song, "Some Humans Ain't Human" back in 2005 protesting the Iraq War and the administration of George W. Bush that kind of slipped under the radar. Prine wrote one activist song back in 1971 called "Paradise"; which sang about a coal company destroying the beautiful woods he used to explore as a kid singing, "Mr. Peabody's coal train has hauled it away." This song, "Some Humans Ain't Human", is a tongue-in-cheek style song obviously aimed at the George W. Bush administration. In the 3rd verse Prine sings:
"Or you're feeling your freedom, and the world's off your back,
when that hotshot from Texas, starts his own war in Iraq."

Twisted Sisters Dee Snider revives the Ted Nugent pooped in his pants myth
JAN 28, 2013 - In an online interview with the website Noisecreep, Dee Snider of Twisted Sister fame weighed in on politics and music, saying he cannot understand why conservatives are listening to Teabagger Ted Nugent, bringing up the fact he "dodged the draft". Snyder said, "...he didn't bathe for a week, and vomited on himself to deliberately avoid the draft.". Then he told people to Google it, adding more fuel to the myth that he "pooped in his pants" to avoid the draft. This myth will not die, and it is a myth. Now don't get me wrong, Ted Nugent did dodge the draft and I totally disagree with his views. The way he avoided the draft though was not by "pooping in his pants" but was almost as bad; he used deferments because he was traveling with a rock and roll band, doing drugs, and screwing groupies...all the while other men were dying on the battlefield of the unnecessary, immoral Vietnam War. Then, he tries to be a gun-toting, soldier-supporting rightwinger. That is total hypocrisy. Read more about Dee Snyder's interview on RawStory.com here. (photo credit: CC\Toglen)
