July 7, 2015 – Musician-activist Mary McBride saw a need for live music to be brought into people’s lives who would otherwise not be able to access and be around live music, such as those in hospitals, hospices, shelters, public-assisted housing and more. So Mary formed an organization called “The Home Tour”  where she not only plays for, but also performs with, people who are suffering from health issues such as mental illness, age and more. She believes, and so does JTMP, that live music can have a healing and therapeutic effect on people and cause mindfulness in their recovery program.

These concerts are also used as educational and empowerment events to help them achieve the most in life. Check out The Home Tour website HERE, and watch this YouTube video from Times of Oman about Mary McBride using her musical-activism to build a cultural bridge with the people of Oman. Also, a good piece about her mission is on C-Hit.org here. Watch Mary McBride and Pakistani pop star Komal Rivzi performing at a cultural exchange event from US Consulate General in Karachi below.
