Ted Nugent: Suspend Voting Rights for Americans on Welfare

date

DEC 5, 2012 - In an editorial in the Washington Times, has-been musician and current conservative mouthpiece Ted Nugent calls for the revocation of an American's right to vote while they are "on welfare", yet graciously gives that right back if they "get off welfare". No mention if that covers corporate welfare, like oil corporation subsidies; JTMP is assuming that it doesn't. Nugent opined, "Let’s also stop the insanity by suspending the right to vote of any American who is on welfare. Once they get off welfare and are self-sustaining, they get their right to vote restored. No American on welfare should have the right to vote for tax increases on those Americans who are working and paying taxes to support them. That’s insane."

Nugent also says the path to prosperity and addressing the debt and deficit is to "slaughter the sacred cow of Social Security". Somebody must tell Ted that SS has nothing to do with the debt and deficit. Nugent wrote, "...we are never going to get our financial house in order until these sacred entitlement cows are not only poked, but slaughtered." Read the insane rant on Washington Times website here.

Latest Activist Music Video: “Coal Miner’s Family” by Op-Critical and Justice Through Music Project

cmf tn 1 dateJustice Through Music Project and Op-Critical have released another musical activist video, this one makes a statement on the Upper Big Branch Mine disaster, and the failure of Massey Energy to protect those coal workers. In a statement Op-Critical said, "Coal Miners Family is dedicated to all those who work in the mines and to all those families who have lost loved ones in the mines.  The song and video were inspired by the senseless loss of life at the 2010 Upper Big Branch mine disaster.  Massey Energy’s failure to follow safety regulations was the direct cause of that nightmare.  We, as Americans, need to make sure that those responsible are held accountable and that similar disasters never happen in the future." Organic Consumer Market starts petition to “Dump Monsanto’s Rider”

no gmo date

DEC 4, 2012 - A non-profit organization called Organic Consumers Market is starting a petition to "Dump the Monsanto Rider", which is a "rider" connected to a bill currently in Congress. This rider would allow Monsanto to plant genetically engineered "Frankenfood" crops even when courts rule that the US Department of Agriculture has approved them illegally. The bill is HR 5973, and the rider is in Section 733. Contact your federal representative and tell them to "Dump the Monsanto Rider" and protect the right of the small farmer and consumer to eat non-genitcally engineered crops. Read more and sign the petition on the Organic Consumer Market website here, and learn how to contact your representative; they even have a sample letter ready for you. Also, you can find your federal representative and how to contact them here. Write a quick letter, they are better than a phone call or email.

DEC 3, 2012 - LED light bulbs, which are the future, are now beginning to hit the market. There is still trouble finding them, I could not find any at Walmart, but Home Depot did have a few models. LED light bulbs are better than CFL (flourescent) for a number of reasons. Read more on JTMP Green here.

Buddy Guy 2008 TomBeetz date

DEC 2, 2012 - The greatest guitar player alive and currently playing (IMHO) Buddy Guy, along with Led Zeppelin, were honored by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts this week and President Barack Obama was there citing the importance of arts in society saying, "[they] inspired us to see things in a new way, to hear things differently, to discover something within us or to appreciate how much beauty there is in the world. It's that unique power that makes the arts so important." JTMP supports keeping funding for the arts in this time of talks of "austerity", and ask our supporters to contact your elected representatives and tell them to defend funding for the arts. Read the AP story here.  (photo credit: CC/Tom Beetz)
