Government is NOT the problem!

omb watch 1 date

OCT 19, 2012 - OMB Watch, an organization dedicated to promoting effective government spending and "A just and democratic society in which every individual can thrive.", has released a GREAT video showing the importance and critical roles that government play in our lives and help businesses and communities thrive.

The government is NOT the problem, it can provide roads and infrastructure to move goods to the market, and it can provide businesses with educated and trained workers. The  public funding for roads, police, firemen, schools and more is under fire more and more from conservatives, and we here at JTMP want to say that we support INCREASING the funding for social services and infrastructure, and establishing responsible and fair revenue intake to fund this great country and lead it into prosperity. Please watch the video below to see how important government plays a role in our lives, and how it helps businesses operate and thrive; and check out the OMB Watch website here.

Jack Johnson Tells Clean Water Stories Through Video

Jack Johnson 2012 date

OCT 18, 2012 - Activist musician Jack Johnson, who helped out with Farm Aid 2012, is hooking up with Waterkeeper Alliance and sharing stories of clean water through video. He talks of surfing with his dad to taking his children to waterways and the importance of the waterway being clean and healthy. In a press release Jack said, “Some of the earliest memories I have are these abstract things of being on the front of my dads surfboard - and one time pulling into a little bit of a tube.  Water has been part of my life since the beginning.  Its everything on the spectrum from a place my family goes to enjoy themselves, I take the kids there everyday, we go down and play in the water - its sort of  meeting place for the families in our community.  And that way, it kind of becomes the closest thing we have to a church - its a spiritual thing. The Waterkeeper Alliance is an amazing organization because you can get involved on your local level and you realize your making a change for good around the whole nation.  All rives flow to the oceans.”

Check out the video below of Jack singing a song for clean water, and to find out more and get involved, check out the Waterkeeper Alliance's website here.

Rolling Stones Get Political, Sing Against “Gloom and Doom”

rolling stones oct 2012 date

OCT 15, 2012 - One of the longest running bands ever, The Rolling Stones, just released a studio track that dabbles into "politics" in a way, and actually sounds pretty good. Keith Richards has come out with another great riff, and the whole band seems energized and the tune really rocks. The song is called "Gloom and Doom" and I came away after listening to it that they are alluding to conservatives in Europe and America that are crying "gloom and doom" unless we eviscerate entitlements. Mick has still got it, and sings about the economic hardships everybody is facing, and seems to break it down to a common way of looking at it and singing about getting a headache over it all.

In a pretty cool "lyric" video for "Gloom and Doom" they just released (watch below) they fight back at the conservative's claim that "entitlements are making us broke", by pointing out  that unfunded billions have been spent on unnecessary wars singing, "Lost all that treasure in an overseas war, it just goes to show you don't get what you paid for." Then Mick and the boys take a swipe at the 1% singing, "Battle to the rich and you worry about the poor." In the third verse they even sing out against FRACKING saying, "Fracking deep for, but there's nothing in the sump!" Check out the new video below.
