AUG 6, 2012 - James Taylor played today at the Democratic National Convention, and Talking Points Memo reported that Mr. Taylor motioned towards an empty chair waiting for him and he said, "I know it's an empty chair. Makes you nervous doesn't it?".

AUG 6, 2012 - NPR has a great article out on the awesome politically active band Ozomatli, who have been playing picket lines and other events for years.They are a Latin band that plays "norteno" style music which hails from Northern Mexico and the Southern part of the US, and one of their musical activist songs is called "La Terperatura" which sings about the immigrant experience and urges people to get politically active. AUG 5, 2012 - Miley Cyrus, sporting her new haircut, is working with Rock the Vote and urging young people to register to vote and get out and vote, and we here at JTMP totally agree. She tweeted a pic of her wearing a t-shirt that said, "They want us to back down" with the "back down" crossed out and "NEVER!" written over it. She shot a PSA for Rock the Vote along with Katy Perry, Kathy Griffin and others to urge young people, really ALL people, to Get Out and Vote! AUG 5, 2012 - Actor Alec Baldwin, upset at the remarks such as "Obama is a Muslim!" that Hank Williams Jr. has been saying about Obama at his shows recently, has Tweeted a response: "I think we need to call Hank Williams Jr. what he is...a broken down, senile, racist old coot."

AUG 5, 2012 - Rapper Nicki Manaj has the rightwing world abuzz how she endorsed Mitt Romney in an expletive-filled rap in a Lil' Wayne song released Monday. The song is titled, "Mercy" and is the fifth track on the album and she raps, "I'm a Republican and I am voting for Mitt Romney. You lazy bitches are fucking up the economy!", she raps in the song.
