Aluminum-Air Battery Extends Range of Electric Cars by 400%

DEVICE USES CHEMICAL REACTION OF WATER AND ALUMINUM

JUNE 5, 2014 – A partnership between Israel-based Phinergy and Canada’s ALCOA has resulted in a device called an “aluminum-air battery”, which is a device that is used in conjunction with an electric car’s battery to extend the driving range, sometimes a much as 400% more. For instance, the affordable Nissan Leaf can have its driving range of about 85 miles extended to as much as 300 miles.
