Aung San Suu Kyi receives Amnesty International’s highest honor

June 20, 2012 – Aung San Suu Kyi has been awarded Amnesty International's highest honor for her brave and continued work to bring freedom and political rights to Burma/Myanmar. She was greeted like a rock star and by a rock star, Bono from U2, when she visited Ireland to accept the award. She was treated to a musical show that included Bono, Bob Geldof and musicians from around the world. She will then travel to England, and accept a honorary doctorate from Oxford University and address both houses of Parliament. She will also be reunited with her grown children she hasn't seen since her house arrest in 2010. Read more on VOANews.com here, take action at Amnesty International here, and check out the video below of Suu Kyi speaking at the event by TelegraphTV.
